I don’t think my Nike+ gps was quite accurate on my 6 mile run today
Did the BBC’s “Which sport are you made for?" quiz on their Commonwealth Games website. Bit of a fun quiz worth checking out! Judo is a pretty interesting result considering I’ve just got back into kickboxing (Yeah, I know, not the same thing but still). The middle-distance athletics result is spot on too.
Really looking forward to the Commonwealth Games. Although I’ve been living in Wales for quite some time now I’ll of course be supporting my home nation of England. But yeah, it’s great to see a big athletics event on telly again after all of the hype around the Olympics.
Tuesday is hill repeats day.
Getting on that fruit thang today. Couldn’t resisting treating myself to a delicious smoothie and some dates as I passed Marks & Spencer’s in town. These will do just nicely for my dinner on a hot day like this when I don’t fancy anything too heavy.
My last 3 runs. Not had much time to keep this blog up to date as I’ve been busy finishing some work and preparing for a conference before I head off to Rome tomorrow. So I’ll just sum up my last few runs as ‘too bloody warm, but at least it’s not raining’.
I’ve been falling behind on this blog a bit, but rest assured I have been running! I managed to get my long run in yesterday before a rather biblical storm. I felt tired when I got up and running was the last thing I wanted to do, but I promised myself chocolate banana smoothie and an OITNB season 2 marathon afterwards, which was enough motivation to push myself out the door.
I’m off to Rome for a long weekend on Friday so I’ll be getting all my runs in before I go next week. I was tempted to take my kit with me, but I’m travelling light and thought I’d take the opportunity to have a bit of a break.
Last run of my trip. Went for a nice and easy four miles this morning. My legs are really starting to feel it from all the running in the mountains! The journey home will give me a chance to rest up a bit before heading out again on my usual route next week.
I’ve had such amazing runs here in Ireland I never want to leave! The trails are just amazing. I also love how I can run a mile along country roads and not see another soul. The trails are also deserted, apart from the odd wild animal. For a break from society, this is heaven.
6 miles along the Blackwater Way trail this morning in glorious sunshine. Was originally heading to a lookout point further up the mountain, but as I reached the clearing a massive ram stepped out in my path. As it showed no sign of budging, and they can be quite territorial and aggressive I decided to head back down. Shame as I was so close to the summit but as I was on my own up there I thought it best to be cautious!
5 miles along the the East Munster Way trail this morning. Started out rather grey and miserable, but the sun started to slowly break it’s way through the clouds as I headed back down the mountain. Saw some deer and a hare out on the trail too!
This morning’s run was 8 miles along the Blackwater Way mountain trail. I was originally planning on doing 10 miles, but the trail was super steep and the wind and rain really started to pick up at the halfway mark. But I did manage to find the lake that the owner of the cottage had told me about yesterday! The wind was really strong up there so I only stuck around to take a few pictures before heading to the shelter of the woodland that runs up the side of the mountain range.
